Get to know us!
Lone Pine Ranch was established in 1964, where they ran herefords in these beautiful Livermore, Colorado mountains.
Later on, the ranch was taken over by Joy and Michael Ptasnik. Mike and Joy have one son and one daughter. They also have quite a few family members who fly across the US JUST to enjoy a little blip of ranch life in Colorado. Joy’s family established the ranch, and once the family ranch was passed on, it became a largely enjoyed family affair by the Ptasniks! Now, it is known as Ptasnik Land and Cattle, but Lone Pine Ranch is still posted on our main barn to remind us of the history that had been.
Mike once said “My father-in-law had a 3 legged steer who had one appendage that wasn’t useable; he was our ranch pet for quite some time… Running around and loving life!” This is a prime example of the exceptional care we provide our animals.
Here at Ptasnik Land and Cattle, we believe in old-traditions! We move our cattle in large drives, up the highway twice a year, horseback. We graze our cattle from Livermore Mountain across to Red Feather Lakes in various state, forest, and private leases. We also grow our own alfalfa and alfalfa grass for our cattle in the winter at our ranch near Platteville, CO.
Presently, majority of our cattle are black Angus. In total we run about 1200 head. We do have a few brockle or bald faced cows just to “spice” things up. Plus! The babies are adorable. We do not use hormones or steroids on our animals whatsoever. Additionally, our cattle are not fed grains in any sort, so you know we always give you the best grass-fed beef on the mountain.
Our Managers…
Our ranch is managed by Clayton and Taylor Archuleta, along with their four children, Jamisyn, Braylon, Sloane, and Castayla. They are responsible for overseeing daily activities, coordinating and conducting business, managing all of the butcher aspects and distribution of beef, and managing our entire beef herd. Their smiling faces will greet you each time you come across them!
